FACTOR is funded partly by the federal gov’t through the Canada Music Fund but also heavily from private radio broadcasters. FACTOR has specific programs for emerging artists but also many programs for established artists (obviously applies here). Their mandate is to fund music that is commercially viable. We have the Canada Council for the Arts for non-commercial music and nearly every province has its own arts funding body that supports many indie artists.
